St. Kitts and Nevis
Most visitors fly into St. Kitts and ferry to Nevis. There is a small plane service that is quite reasonable if you don't mind a very small plane. Nevis is a paradise for nature lovers. Hike in a lushly carpeted rainforest and watch for a large variety of birds and listen to the monkeys chattering in the trees. Visit archeological ruins. Walk along the beach at night and find the astrological star formations. Attend a horse race. Watch a Cricket match; golf, mountain bike, play net ball or volleyball, tennis. Go horseback riding. Visit the many museums, including Alexander Hamilton's home and Admiral Nelson's wedding site. Shop the many boutiques. In the evening, visit one of the island resorts for live music and dancing. St. Kitts has beautiful sparkling black sand beaches, grey beaches, and golden sand beaches. Many are secluded. Bird watchers love St. Kitts as they look for 47 different varieties. Shop in duty free upscale shops and for local crafts. In the evening, try your luck at the casino.

St. Maarten / St. Martin St. Maarten is the Dutch side of the island. St. Martin is the French side. This is a popular cruise stop. Shopping in Philipsburg, St. Maarten and Marigot, St. Martin is excellent. In St. Martin there is a wonderful outdoor market with good values and good merchandise. One thing you need to try is the Guavaberry drink. It is made on the island and tastes wonderful. During the day, enjoy every imaginable water sport, historical museums, horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking. In the evening, there are casinos, numerous bars and night clubs, movie theaters, and bowling. There are secluded beaches and more populated beach options. Orient Beach on the French side is clothing optional, although most of the au natural participants stay on one end of the beach. St. Maarten / St. Martin are known for their excellent gourmet dining. There are not many all inclusive options on the island, but it's easy to get around, and there are a lot of good restaurants to sample.

Turks and Caicos These are two largest islands and they are distinctively different. Turks has deep off-shore water and has the privilege of being in the migration path for about 2500 Humpback Whales beetween late December and April. During the summer months, Manta Rays, Eagle Rays, and turtles can be found along the coral reefs and walls. Turks & Caicos is also a bird watchers paradise with over 170 resident species. JoJo the Dolphin is the resident wild dolphin who voluntarily interacts with humans in his own habitat. He has been proclaimed a national treasure by the government. In addition to outstanding diving, snorkeling, fishing, and all types of water sports, visitors to the Turks & Caicos islands can ride horseback, play mini-golf, shop, visit the National Museum, and gamble in the casino.

US Virgin Islands: St. Croix, St. Thomas, St. John St. Thomas is the most populated of the three islands. There are a few all inclusive resorts on St. Thomas; however most are EP (not all inclusive). The roads are narrow, winding, and hilly. Driving is on the left side of the road; so renting a car is not advised. There is economical bus service throughout the island that is easy to use. Downtown Charlotte Amalie has a lot of jewelry stores and other boutiques. It has quaint with little alleyways to explore -- charming shops and restaurants can be found in the alleyways. Sites include Ft. Christian, Seven Arches, 99 (really 103) steps that lead to more steps and ultimately Blackbeard's Castle, Skyride, Atlantis Submarine, Drakes Seat (beautiful view), ecotours, and Tillett Gardens. Megans Bay is beautiful. The locals go to Coki Beach which is next to Coral World Ocean Park. Nightlife is best in Red Hook where there are several bars and night spots all within walking distance of one another. St. John is accessible by ferry from St. Thomas -- either from Charlotte Amalie (longer trip) or from Red Hook (about 30 minutes). It is a lush island that is 2/3 national park. Hikers enjoy national park trails. The best beaches are from Cruz Bay and north. Some are virtually deserted. You'll see wild donkeys roaming freely. Nightlife is mild with most people "hanging out" at one of several bars, listing to live music or visiting a restaurant for a great dinner. Water Island is the newest addition to the USVI group. It is 1/2 mile off the south coast of St. Thomas and is mainly residential. It is accessible by ferry and is a good day trip. There's no transportation on the island; so it's perfect for hikers. St. Croix's main attractions (besides its beaches) are in Frederiksted with Emancipation Park, the Customs House, and Ft. Frederik with its museum and art gallery. Christiansted is larger and has interesting Dutch architecture, and cobblestone walkways. Sites to see include Fort Christiansvaern which is one of the best preserved forts in the Caribbean. It is comprised of yellow brick -- as is the Old Danish Customs House, Old Scale House and The Government House. The Steeple Museum and Apothecary Museum are also interesting to see. Elsewhere on the island, you'll see windmills, great houses, plantations, and nature reserves.

Aruba is a party island offering casinos, bars, dance clubs with floor shows, steel bands, llimbos, carnival dancers. Dining options are plentiful. It is easy to get around by taking the buses. White sand beaches border crystal clear turquoise water and stretch for miles, making it easy to hotel hop. The landscape is desert-like with cactus, wild donkeys, goats, lizards, and sand dunes. Besides beach and water sports, popular pastimes are horseback riding and dune sliding. Several must see sights are the Alto Vista Chapel, California Lighthouse, Archeology Museum, and Fort Zoutman.

St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful of all the Caribbean islands. In their ads, showing a marvelous beach scene with two of their famous landmarks, the towering volcanic cones of Gros Piton and Petit Piton, the caption reads "God Did It". St. Lucia is a combination of high mountain peaks sloping to low land areas and breathtaking beaches. Lush, lush, lush and more lush -- colorful flowers interspersed with verdent green. One of the must sees is the drive-in volcano with its therapeutic sulpher springs. Activities include water sports, Scuba and snorkeling, deep sea fishing, eco tours, golf, historical sightseeing, and festivals. Temperatures year around are between 70 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit; December through May are the driest months.
